This uncommon female centaur represents the harmonious tension among reason, imagination and spirit. She carries a stylus in her right hand and holds wax writing tablets aloft in her left. In contrast to sturdy papyrus or parchment, wax represents work requiring constant revision. Her chiton is clasped by the three scimitar moons of Diana. Her waist is encircled by a necklace from a horse dedicated to Poseidon. She serves in the court of Cheiron, the centaur sage, physician, prophet, and teacher of Hercules, Achilles, Jason and Asclepius. In keeping with the call to honor the Creator's blessings by serving others, her name is Avodah. Copyright: S. E. Cregier 2006 |
